Heart tissue and blood samples

During cardiac surgery, residual atrial and ventricular tissue is collected for further experimentation and consequently stored in our biobank. This biobank contains not only tissue from living myocardial slices, but also atrial biopsies taken during the per-operative mapping procedures. Next to that, additional per-operative blood samples have been stored for further analyses obtained from a wide variety of adult and pediatric patients including coronary-, valvular-, congenital- heart diseases and cardiomyopathies. Patients are added to this database on a daily base. One specific group consist of explanted heart failure hearts.
